Brian Toshio Shimasaki, 61, of Hilo died March 13 at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation &Nursing Center. Born in Hilo, he was a warehouseman for T. Hara &Co., proprietor of Shima’s Lawn Service and member of General Assembly Church of the First Born of Jesus Christ and Hawaii Bowling League. Thomas Richard Weightman, 82, of Okinawa, Japan, formerly of Hilo, died March 16 at Camp Foster Naval Hospital in Okinawa. Born in Lemmon, S.D., he was a retired U.S. Marine Corps master sergeant and Vietnam War veteran who served three combat tours. Military honors at Camp Foster Naval Base in Okinawa. Survived by wife, Yasu “Kayo” Weightman; sons, Robert Weightman, Thomas E. Weightman and Craig Weightman; daughters, Jennifer Wilson and Tomiko Sink; adopted son, Shaun Kitchen; siblings, Gene Weightman, Grace Gillette, Aldene (Chucky) Bourgard, Darlene (Flit) Kutchler, Gloria (Bootie) Brill and Donald Jones; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
